Child Trafficking in the U.S is not only the fastest-growing crime, but also it’s flourishing worldwide. The box office hit “The Sound of Freedom” offers a simple reason why everyone should care:

‘Cause God’s children are not for sale.

Attend the movie. Come to your own conclusions about the outrage of Human Trafficking and child trafficking in particular, which amounts to modern-day slavery. It is widespread and abhorrent to our nature, yet most of the write-ups for this movie contain descriptions like:

• Christian thriller ‘Sound of Freedom’ faces criticism for stoking conspiracy theories, says NPR
• “Sound of Freedom” stars Jim Caviezel, who has a history of pushing the QAnonconspiracy theory, reports the NYT, even though nothing in the film mentions QAnon or alludes to anything like that.
• The ‘QAnon adjacent’ film is co-opted by the right-wing…The Guardian.
• Soundof Freedom is an effective and suspenseful call to action against human trafficking, yet not free of issues in its depiction of the sensitive subject matter.  Knock by Rotten Tomatoes with a 70% critics rating and a 99% verified viewer rating.
• There’s clearly a market for this kind of content.  “Liberals have doubts” Business Insider.
• From the A. Times—How summer blockbuster ‘Sound of Freedom’ became a battlefield in the culture wars.

All of the above comments range from patronizing to disbelief that this ongoing tragedy is something of great importance, though out of sight for many. This disturbing movie exposes a culture of rampant pedophilia in this country.

My Personal Story – A Lifetime Lesson For All:

In that ugly vein, I need to share something personal that happened to me when I was about 21, working in Venezuela. It remains one of the ugliest and most unforgettable moments of my life. I was forever changed because I learned how brutal and evil some fellow human beings are.

It was a Sunday morning in an area south of Ciudad Guyana, a medium-sized city busy with economic activity. I was a contractor building a portion of a Bauxite Production facility and stayed in an ex-pat facility with a much older Cuban engineer friend and coworker. He was proud that he was directly descended from Spanish aristocracy. This becomes important later in my story.

I was still maturing but wanted to fit in with the older crowd of my coworkers. That Sunday, my friend and I drove around a poor but beautiful semi-jungle area. I didn’t know it then, but I would soon be taught a lesson that came out of nowhere. My friend was driving. We passed one small hovel after another, where families were outside, enjoying their day off. My friend told me to pick out one of the places, and when I asked why, he said it was time for a lesson. With some hesitancy, I picked out a house, really a hovel, and we stopped.

My friend and I got out of our vehicle. The man, who seemed to be the household’s father, removed his hat and welcomed the ‘Patron,’ using that word with some unease. My Spanish was lacking, and my friend spoke his usual rapid-fire Spanish too quickly for me to understand. Eventually, however, I realized my friend was negotiating a price for ‘access’ to the man’s youngest daughter. Although you may question how a father can ‘sell’ his child, my friend was from a high social caste and could prove dangerous to this family if thwarted. Lower caste Campesina were expected to do what they were told.

However, I made it clear that I had no interest in participating in such a deed. So, my friend went down to the riverbank with the young girl while I returned to the car. About a month later, back in America, I was no longer associated with that longtime friend. He had castigated me for not ‘growing up’ to recognize and accept my place in life. I was already aware of the term machismo as a desirable and necessary quality I was expected to emulate. I failed the test and was never happier, yet terribly sad to lose my mentor.

History of Child Trafficking in the U.S:

I never doubted evil permeates the world. Latin America has a culture of child sex slavery as vile as Middle Eastern countries, Asia, or the American slave trade. Slavery thrives all over the world. There are more people in slavery today than at any time in history, with the U.N. reporting more than 50 million people enslaved, predominantly in the sex trade. We may call it by different names, but abusing children, trafficking them, and profiting from them is normalized in many places. Sex Slavery is the fastest-growing criminal enterprise in the world.  It is reported that America is one of the most lucrative destinations of all.

U.S Current Child Trafficking Situation:

Under President Joe Biden, over 85,000 children have come across our borders, with their whereabouts soon becoming unknown. It is believed that many of these children are involved in sex trafficking or enslaved, as cheap labor, as reported by Newsweek. How does this happen?

In this case, the Biden Administration has a laser-like focus on optics. Tens or even hundreds of thousands waiting at the border to cross are terrible optics for the Biden Administration. Republicans and others see the H.H.S. Secretary freely admitting people into our interior with the skimpiest checks. Millions more are crossing without being intercepted at all. Regardless of what is stated, Biden has opened our border wide for his Party’s political purposes. For this reason, among others, I heap scorn on him.

There are errors of omission and errors of commission. Biden runs his immigration policies with the knowledge that thousands will die needlessly along the dangerous path to our country. Thousands more enter into some form of slavery; all can be laid at the feet of the one policymaker allowing this evil to happen, i.e., President Joseph Biden. The other central issue is the harm and cost of the President inviting millions of illegal aliens who are now here, with the majority having to be found and removed.  This will prove painful and costly. One of the most unfortunate facts of life is that everybody can’t come to America. Such uncontrolled immigration is destroying us. What country can exist without controlling its borders?

A Responsibility of Every Human:

So there you have it. What will we do to stop human trafficking? Will you see the Sound of Freedom for yourself or listen to those who wish you to remain uninformed or misinformed? I went, and I hope you do as well.
