History can be a funny thing. We think we understand what is happening as we read the news or view it in real time. Only later do we discover we were missing key elements that frequently completely change the reality of what we first believed. And then there is real history, the kind that sometimes takes another generation to reveal context and to comport our understanding with other elements that, at the time, did not seem connected or relevant, but that fundamentally change our understanding.

One of the more interesting and important narratives holding great sway over all of us at the moment is exactly how elites rationalized destroying the future of hundreds of millions to benefit themselves in the moment. Today, we’ll discuss the question most often asked by my readers and many others:

Discerning the Minds of the Elites:

Not a trivial pursuit, when the actions of a few have such an immediate and consequential effect on the direction of Western Civilization, in which we see put into focus, as Secretary of State Rubio said out loud, what many see as happening: “We in America have no interest in being polite and orderly caretakers of the West’s managed decline.” Somebody finally said it, but is anybody listening?

The elites comprise a transnational grouping with no allegiance to a country, be it their own or even a particular political bloc. Their only loyalty is to their power and longevity. They represent the nexus group we commonly term globalists, the Davos crowd, or, in their parlance, our betters, the true definition of Woke; they get it, they see the future, and we don’t. But what if they are not even any of those monikers, what if they are just a bunch of blissfully ignorant and ultimately arrogant pseudo intellectuals, with a free-based and constantly changing philosophy that adapts to the ever-changing conditions they themselves created?

Elites are essentially confused by their insulated position, which does not immediately affect them because of their wealth, status, or perceived superiority. (To believe otherwise is to assume they are suicidal) Rosie O’Donnell (one of those elites) has a snit about Donald Trump and moved to Ireland. When the snit ran its course, she quietly moved back here to be near her children while pontificating she’s back “to see how hard it would be for me to get in and out of the country”, “to feel what it felt like” to be back in the U.S. after a year away. “to make sure it was “safe” before bringing her daughter back for the summer.” This would be comical if it weren’t mainstream among the elites, who see dangers and evils that we don’t.

George Clooney and his wife became French citizens last year. Why? While not renouncing their U.S. citizenship and carefully not saying the reasons were political, Clooney burnishes his many anti-American positions by seeking European citizenship, the better to rub elbows with fellow elites in Davos, Geneva, and places like Aspen, Colorado, another elite haven. One person I know who runs in those circles constantly reminds me that the elites think they smell better than the rest of us, who lack their ‘enlightenment’.

This brings me to the issue of the moment: a growing belief among the elites that they need to reduce or eliminate their dependence, even exposure, to the United States, which, since Biden’s departure, is no longer a legitimate citizen of the world. A rare convergence of conservatives and leftists seems to be agreeing on this point, but from different directions, asserting different endpoints.

  1. A recent article in American Thinker’s excellent “Members’ Weekly Newsletter” by R. Dunnmade the shocking claim that the U.S. should divest itself from a dying Europe. Saying in part:”We need, at the very least, to create distance between ourselves and the rotting husk of Europe, a Europe that has deteriorated into something part con artist, part mendicant, and part parasite. That thinks it has a right to call the U.S. to rescue it from its own self-inflicted catastrophes when it’s not lashing out in sheer godforsaken spite. That conspires with our criminal elites and connives with our enemies. A Europe that, simply put, is no longer worth the trouble.”
  2. Leftist elites, on the other hand, speak more and more about decoupling themselves from America, whom they claim:European left-leaning intellectuals and policymakers increasingly invoke “decoupling” or “strategic autonomy”from the United States — arguing that U.S. policy, economic coercion, or culturalpolitical shifts make closer alignment risky or undesirable.

The former reminds me a lot of J.P. Morgan closing Donald Trump’s financial accounts (bet you Jamie Dimond made that call), after he left office due to ‘reputational risk’; please spare me!

Being one of the kids of this proposed divorce is creating anxiety for me. I don’t believe in divorce on principle, especially when there are kids involved. Let’s look deeper and see what can be salvaged.

If I were counseling the two sides, I’d remind them of what brought them together in the first place, seek to understand what’s changed, and ascertain whether there’s a viable path to reconciliation and what would need to change to make it happen.

Here’s the truth:

Both the U.S. and Europe are natively the same industrious people. We are strong supporters of the Judeo-Christian tradition, have similar family ties, and a lengthy history of supporting one another against common enemies. Economically, we have deep ties. Both sides are diverging from their traditional roots, Europe more than us, but on the same track.

What’s changed, fundamentally, is the influence of the elites on both societies, leading to the acceptance of a false narrative debasing traditional norms by flooding all our countries with unvetted, frequently hostile immigrants and abandoning our core tenets. By now, we should all have reached a consensus on this.

If this divorce comes to pass, it will be a gift of immeasurable value to Xi and Putin, who together have designs on how a post-Western Civilization world will look. Putin is, in fact, a fascist, and Xi is an irredeemable communist. Regardless, they both see the current societal carnage in the West as too good to pass up.

We should seek to limit the power of elites everywhere we find them, particularly in our education system and in politics, where they have learned to play all of us like virtuoso violinists. Split? No way. We are much stronger together than apart. While we fight our own elites, let’s help Europe reach the same conclusion, which likely requires a major overhaul of the EU structure, contributing mightily to the elites’ power.

The good reason behind Operation Epic Fury

For 47 years, Iran has been a relentless, aggressive, and deadly foe of America and the West. Trump did what every Western leader should already have done.

Conservatives, especially now, are wary of foreign military adventures, no matter what the reason. In the 20th century, America was more willing to confront threats that have either short- or long-term effects on America’s freedom of action, be it navigation, trade, influence, or America’s strategic interests in a free world. Our inclinations have been greatly influenced by poorly executed wars that left Americans fearing “forever wars.”

However, this war is not a “forever” war. It is, instead, a war preventing a forever nightmare of a world forced to bow down before a nuclear Iran—an Iran that has already cast the pall of terrorism across the world for 47 years.

Beginning with the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Iran has been hostile to the U.S. During its Revolution, it captured 66 Americans and held them for 444 days until President Reagan’s inauguration. In 1983, it committed the Beirut Marine barracks bombing, killing 241 Americans.

After that, Iran was off to the races, supporting our enemies at every turn and killing thousands of Americans in hundreds of attacks, kidnappings, and plots, including the mass manufacturing of IEDs in their factories and then sending them to Iraq and Afghanistan, killing our soldiers.

Iran’s theological leadership has never stopped its quest to export radical Islamic fervor to the ends of the earth, believing in a universal Muslim theocracy led by Iranian Mullahs..

Destroying Israel has always been a central tenet of the Iranian regime, leading to Iran repeatedly attacking Israel since the Revolution and killing many Israelis.

Iran’s leadership has influenced the Middle East to our detriment, leading to constant conflict with many Middle Eastern countries being forced to genuflect to Iran to stay on its good side. They are prevented from fulfilling any desire they may have to be pluralistic and engage in normal relations with Israel, the United States, and the world at large.

Iran has spent decades pursuing nuclear power. There is little doubt that Iran would use nuclear weapons on Israel, thereby creating the conditions for a world war in both a flash and in an instant.

Iran’s proxies, Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Houthis, and the Iraqi militias (those are the main ones, but there are others), are Iran’s attempt to export its goals through thinly veiled ‘independent’ actors that Iran funds and equips to do its bidding. Through these proxies, Iran can maintain plausible deniability while threatening other legitimate governments to bend to its will.

Recently, Iran killed over 30,000 of its own people as they attempted to throw off the yoke of tyranny levied on its own people, going so far as to execute people in their hospital beds.

This is a time for the world to come together to rid itself of the evil that, left unchecked, will bring the entire world to war. Let’s put aside political rivalries and stand together against a clear and present danger that threatens the entire world.

Trump’s courage should be contagious. Let’s finish it and ensure a peaceful Middle East. President Trump challenged the Iranian people by saying, “This may be your only chance at freedom for a generation.” Certainly, America, the main bastion of freedom in the world, should support this righteous war.

This is the moment America will be remembered for generations to come.
